Ismed's Penalty Breaks The Drought

Persipura v Bali United 0-0 12,364

If we're totally honest the first half was a pretty drab affair with few chances though I was impressed by the performance of M Tahir who looked a neat and tidy player. Looks like I was the only one as coach Jafri Sastra pulled him off at half time and replaced him with Pahabol who almost immediately made an impact, bringing a verve and an intensity to the home side's attack that had been missing earlier.

Bali United looked disciplined and effective and had they won there would have been few who were shocked. Sukaraja missed a fine opportunity after good work down the left when he scooped his effort over the bar though credit to Yoo in the Persipura goal for getting his angles right. This Persipura team, despite the spine of familiar names, has yet to click into gear and it is little surprise they are being linked with Greg Nwokolo, recently released by Thai side BEC Tero.

Interesting fact - Boas Solossa was replaced on 65 minutes by Osvaldo Ardiles Haay!

Persija v Semen Padang 1-0 (Ismed Sofyan) 50,117
The biggest crowd of the season saw Persija make hard work of defeating Semen Padang. It took a second half penalty from veteran full back Ismed Sofyan to secure the points but I don't think many home fans were too put out by the laboured performance. They hadn't seen their heroes play a proper game in Jakarta since 2014; for them it was all about dusting off the songbooks and paying homage.
Teenager Umanailo could have give Persija the lead before Ismed scored but instead he somehow contrived to miss what looked like a sitter, firing wide when one on one with the pony tailed Janida. While that spurned opportunity could be put down to the recklessness of youth he showed nifty footwork to claim the penalty.

Bhayangkara Surabaya United v PS TNI 0-0 9,612
Indonesia's first Uniform Derby ended the way of most other games this weekend with both sides firing blanks. BS United coach Ibnnu Grahan was the unhappy one saying his team had worked hard and had created a number of chances. His opposite number Edward Tjong had mixed feelings. He felt a point was deserved but would have preferred the three points to boost the confidence among  his young charges after they had lost their opening game last week.
Whatever the result it was good to see a crowd of almost 10,000 watching the game and if this continues it should boost the average attendance for he ISC. Mind, some goals would be nice!
BS United: Wahyu Tri Nugroho; Otavio Dutra, Suroso, Putu Gede Juni Antara (Sahrul 46'), Fathcurahman, Zulfiandi, Hargianto, Fandi Eko Utomo (Ilham 56'), Abdelkibir (Fitra 80'), Rudi Widodo, Shane Malcolm.
Subs: Thomas Ryan; Sahrul Kurniawan, Indra Kahfi, Fitra Ridwan, Bijahil Calwa, Ilham Udin, Wahyu Subo Seto.
PS TNI: Teguh Amiruddin; Wiganda Pradika, Hardiantono, Ganjar Mukti, Abduh Lestaluhu, Legimin Raharjo, Manahati Lestusen (Iman 78'), Erwin Ramdani (Wawan 46'), Pandi Lestaluhu, Dimas Drajad (Irvandy 60'), Tambun Naibaho
Subs: Ravi Murdianto; Hendri Aprilianto, Syaiful Ramadhan, Iman Faturohman, Irfandy Zein, Guntur Triaji, Wawan Febrianto.
