Persis Expect Large Turnout For Lions' Visit

No one will suggest UiTM are one of the biggest clubs in Malaysia, not even their staunchest supporters, if they had any.

They are a football team attached to a university in Shah Alam, just outside Kuala Lumpur, and play in the Premier League or the second tier.

I have no idea what kind of crowds they get, for some reason, Malaysia doesn't announce them, but I think it is fair to say when they fronted up at Manahan Stadium in Solo recently to play the home town heroes they may have been a little surprised.

Persis fans haven't had much to scream about for, um, bloody ages but they still turn out in impressive numbers to support their team and the game with UiTM was no exception...some 15,000 fans in fact.

Little wonder then that when Malaysia Super League champions LionsXII breeze into town on Saturday, the club are expecting an even bigger crowd with 23,000 tickets going on sale with prices ranging from Rp 10,000 to Rp 20,000.

LionsXII have changed much of the squad that won the title last year but at least they will have one familiar name...coach Fandi Ahmad played for NIAC Mitra and coached Pelita Jaya
