Baihakki's Cause
SINGAPORE – National defender Baihakki Khaizan has been unveiled as the ambassador of the FC Soccer School Singapore (CFCSSG).
The 29-year-old, who was also part of the LionsXII’s Malaysian Super League title-winning squad and has joined Johor Darul Takzim for the 2014 season, will conduct 12 weekly coaching sessions from January onwards for underprivileged children aged 10 to 13 as part of the CFCSSSG’s community programme.
The coaching programme costs about S$120 per child every month, and the fees are fully sponsored by StarCom Sports Management, which runs the CFCSSSG.
Speaking at a media event at Rainforest Sports Hub at Rurf City, Baihakki who was recently named Best Defender at the Football Association of Malaysia’s annual awards, said : “This has been an incredible year for me, and I am blessed to have the support of the community throughout my playing career.
“Football has given me a wonderful career and life and I hope I can do my bit to give something back and help these children.
Ryz Martein Yacob, the Executive Director of Starcom, is appealing for more companies to join them in developing and expanding the programme and sponsoring the monthly fees.
He said: “Through our work with the community, we have noticed there are many children who need a helping hand… We want to help even more children and seek for more corporations to join us in this initiative.”
COMMENT - Lot of time for Baihakki but that shirt doesn't suit him one bit! This is a family blog hence the picture from the original story has been blocked...
