Good Luck, Persipura!
I've long whined that Indonesian clubs have next to no idea about how to market themselves. This story proves the theory.
Persipura are due to play Chonburi in the AFC Cup on Wednesday night in what promises to be an historic night for the people of Jayapura with the AFC finally approving the Mandala Stadium for international competition. Even though there is no international airport nearby I understand Persipura are hiring a plane for visiting teams.
22,000 tickets have gone on sale for the game and in an ordinary Indonesia Super League game the Black Pearls should have no problem shifting them.
But check these prices, quoted in USD assuming an exchange rate of 9,000 IDR to 1 USD.
VVIP - 110 USD
VIP Class 1 to 4 - 55 USD
VIP Class 5 to 8 - 44 USD
Liverpool Terrace - 33 USD
North/South Terrace - 5.50 USD
Others - 3.30 USD
2,000 tickets have been reserved for the supporters club, Persipuramania.

Apparently Persipura's players have got so used to playing in empty stadiums for the AFC Cup that the management doesn't want to upset their rhythm.
