Cantona Recognition Could Boost Shafiq's Status
It's a said comment on how things are in Singapore that when someone recommends the local game or a local player they will be greeted with rolled eyes and groans from people who have never attended an SLeague game in their lives. But when Eric Cantona, with his indepth knowledge of the game in Singapore asks 'who is the number 27?' then makes him man of the match people suddenly wanna jump on the bandwagon.
Whatever it takes. If having Cantona say the name Shafiq Ghani puts his name in to the Singapore consciousness then perhaps his time spent in the country will have had some knock on benefit for football.
