Rip It Up And Start All Over Again
I've never known too much about Philippine football and indeed still don't know if they have a national league. I did see their Futsal team in Jakarta earlier this year but they were mostly Iranians!
Anyway you can understand how delighted I was to find out their FA is as cack handed as anyone else's in the region.
Most of the quotes I've seen recently come from the former head who was apparently recently replaced by someone else but it seems them angels in Switzerland, FIFA, don't recognise the new bod.
So the former bod is getting a bit peeved by internal politicking and is threatening to dismantle the national team and form a new one! And this on the even of their first ever semi final appearance...
He also says the success is down to him arranging for the team to prepare in Taiwan. And no doubt had they finished in their customary bottom position he would have accepted responsibility as well.
Next week the Philippines will send a delegation to Jakarta to try and have one leg of the semi final played in the Philippines which is going to be a tough ask. Given the option between a share of the gate from 70,000 + or playing in the boonies it does seem a non starter.
Back to that meeting, I would love to be a fly on the wall there

If I remember correctly, the PSSI said it was going to take the gate receipts from both legs in exchange for covering the Philippines' expenses.
Good luck prying the cash out of the PSSI hands....
