Pampered footballers?

Bandung to Sidoarjo is quite a trek. Especially when done by train on Java's creaking railway infrastructure. Still there were a good few Persib fans who made the long trek east to cheer on their heroes against newly promoted Deltras.

Fans travelling away don't expect much. I know I never did. But they do expect the players to show a bit of effort.

After the 4-1 defeat the hardy travellers faced an 18 hour trip back home, finally getting into Bandung at midnight on the Sunday. For their pains they were also attacked by rocks as they passed through the city of Solo.

This article, from the excellent Simamaung fansite, will be familiar to anyone who has been on a long away journey to end up with nothing. Players performance is described as 'lacklustre, spoiled' and one fan suggested that next time the players should try travelling by economy train.

The players flew back after the game and were probably tucked up in their beds while their fans were still waiting to leave Surabaya.
