Delays, Delays and Thrice Delays

The second tier Indonesia Premier League, known locally as Utama, has been delayed for a second time. It was due to start on 26 October, was then put back to 30 and has now slipped into November. No date. Yet. And certainly no fixture list. God knows what back room machinations are going on.

Remember that super duper bells and whistles new, alternative league I've mentioned once or twice on here? The one that would be illegal because it lacks FA support? The one that guarantees large pots of money to the clubs coming from a central fund meaning they won't have to go cap in hand to the local government?

Well, that's been delayed!

That too was supposed to start in October but has slipped into November. Forget about a fixture list, no bugger even knows what teams have applied to join! Some official, speaking anonymously, said that 18 teams had joined up. Every once in a while a story will appear about a Semarang FC or a Manado FC.

Will it even happen? I have my doubts but a couple of people have told me things are proceeding swimmingly and it should be good to go in October. Sorry, November.

Now if the people behind this alternate league are so keen on throwing money at football why don't they get involved with the Premier League? That would be fun! We would have a second tier league potentially with clubs having more money than clubs in the Super League and wouldn't that be so Indonesian!
