Indonesia Super League 2010/2011 Fixtures

The fixtures for the new season are out but not available on the ISL website yet.

It all kicks off on 26 September with five games the pick of which is probably, umm, well you decide.

Persijap v PSM
Persibo v Persiba
Semen Padang v Persipura
Pelita Jaya v Persiwa
PSPS v Persija

As ever with Indonesia don't go booking your hols round the football. Dates will change despite assurances that they will be kept to a minimum and indeed a few clubs aren't even sure where they will be play their home games. Both Semen Padang and PSPS Pekanbaru are rumoured to be using Sriwijaya's Jakabaring Stadium if their own fail to meet stringent ISL verification. Likewise Persibo are said to be considering using the Manahan Stadium in Solo.

For some reason the powers that be continue to schedule plenty of midweek games no doubt scheduled for a 3.30 kick off. Some of us actually work for a living but most people who go to football don't. Or rather they lurk in the black economy selling tobacco by the side of the road or they're skipping school or they have been bussed in by the local government.

There is a break starting 23 November to concentrate minds on the ASEAN Cup before kicking off again 2 January before stopping again 10 February for the mid season break.

As usual teams have been 'paired'. Given the vast distances some clubs have to travel, Persiwa, Persipura, PSM, Persiba, Bontang and Persisam are from the eastern islands of Indonesia far from Java, clubs are paired so that when they have one away game for example against Pelita Jaya rather than return home they will play another team not so far away. So when Persiba play Pelita Jaya, home and away, PSM will play Semen Padang.

Pelita Jaya play in Karawang, an hour outside of Jakarta while Semen Padang is about an hour's flight from Jakarta on Sumatra. Infinitely preferable to a three hour flight back east using one of the cheaper local airlines and travelling through the grotty Terminal One at Jakarta Airport.
