Great! Moore Football...
After possibly the longest pre season since the world began the Thais have decided that what football needs, in Thailand, is another cup competition. Because the TPL, the FA Cup, the Super Cup and all those other pre season wotsits just ain't enoug. Nope, there's more cash to be squeezed from this particular cash cow.
Enter a League Cup. Let's face it the English have one, the Germans have one, even Singapore. And if it's good enough for them it's good enough for Thailand. The germans at least and to a lesser extent the English also allow their players to rest up once in a while but that's one decadent western habit that has not caught on in this part of the world.
There's the Asian Cup later this year as well as the ASEAN Cup. And then the King's Cup..
Next year - the Thais introduce the Freight Rover Trophy, sponsored by Roong Reaung Coaches, and the Anglo Italian Cup, rebranded as the Temasak Holdings/Shin Co-op Thai Singapore Cup while plans remain in place for a Home International series, to be renamed the Suzuki Sanskrit Squiggle Trophy, fearuring Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
There, that should plug any remain gaps in the calender...
