World Cup? Pah!
Well football's greatest showpiece, not my words, is proving a damp squb isn't it? It must be the first ever football event where you can't hear any fans singing thanks to them stoopid horns. And this afternoon what do we have to look forward to? Bloody Chile against bloody Honduras, that's bloody who.
Luckily I'm in Bangkok and I can look forward to BEC Tero playing Bangkok Glass. I've seen the Glass Bunny a couple of times this month and liked what I have seen. Then again I am watching the games as a neutral. If I was a fan I would be less gushing.
1-0 up, 3-1 down against SAFFC before winning 5-3. 0-1 against TTM Phichit, back to 2-1 only to concede from a free kick in injury time against the Smokers. And, I might point out, two games more exciting than anything the World Cup has thrown up.
There's a theme. Games I have seen recently that have bben better than that nonsense in South Africa.
Sengkang Punggol v SAFFC 1-3
Home United v Etoile 3-3
Persitara v Sriwijaya 5-1
Arema v Pelita Jaya 6-1
SAFFC v Bangkok Glass 3-5
Bangkok Glass v TTM Phichit 2-2
Those six games produced 35 goals. Compare that with 20 goals in the first 13 games of the African yawn fest.
