Balestier Khalsa

Nobody really expects much of Balestier Khalsa. Beyond that is finishing bottom of the SLeague, an honour they have claimed in the last two campaigns. The current campaign though is looking a little bit different.

Look at their recent years.

2009 4 wins 22 goals 18 points
2008 3 wins 26 goals 17 points

After 15 games, almost half way through the season they sit in 8th spot, nose bleed territory.

2010 6 wins 14 goals 20 points.

Certainly an impressive start to the season. Even more so when you consider their miserly defence has shipped 18 goals so far. The 6th best in the league.

Daniel Hammond was brought in after spells with Young Lions and Woodlands Wellington and his commanding presence at the back alongside Paul Cummingham has tightened things at the back.

Less than a goal a game is a problem though and the Tigers have been too reliant on Rivaldo Costa who has netted fully half of their season's total. Perhaps with the transfer window just around the corner they will be looking for a partner to ease the pressure on the Brazilian?

They have certainly been no pushover this season with only Young Lions enjoying more than a one goal margin of victory. Indeed draws against traditional powerhouses SAFFC and Home United as well as Gombak United have shown that the big boys are no longer having things their own way.
