AFF Cup Draw

The draw for the 2010 ASEAN Football Federation Cup will take place in Hanoi this July, organizers decided on Tuesday.

The federation said it chose Hanoi because Vietnamese football fans are among the craziest in the world and Vietnam has successfully organized big regional football events in the past.

Vietnam and Indonesia will be co-hosts of the biennial regional event, formerly called the Tiger Cup. Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, East Timor and the Philippines will play the qualifying round in Laos from October 16-26.

The best two teams of the qualifying round will compete with reigning champions Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Singapore, who have byes to the contest.

The teams in Group A play on December 1, 4 and 7 while Group B matches will take place on December 2, 5 and 8.

The semifinal first leg matches will be on December 15 and 16 and the second leg games will be on December 18 and 19. The final first and second leg matches will take place on December 26 and 29.
