Australia v Indonesia 1-0
Approaching half time in Brisbane and what have we learnt? Indonesian players like to have that personnel attention that only comes from your own stretcher bearer. And they can't defend set pieces. And if Markus Horison wants to be considered a top keeper he needs to learn how to command his area.
Nothing new then.
Australia v Indonesia 1-0 20,422
Doncha just love them Aussie commentators. The whistle has just gone on Indonesia's 'torment' with the score ending as it was at half time. The score stayed the same, and the Aussies didn't finish with a rugby score, due to a combination of poor finishing and good defending by the Indonesians.
Rather than come out with my usual comments post international I shall try and look at the positives. Defensively Indonesia have looked a good unit which is a surprise because individually they fall apart. Shows the value of hard work in training but time and time again they fall asleep at dead balls and when the ball is crossed in. And tonight it has hurt them again.
Nova Arianto, Charis Yulianto, Maman Abdurahman have put in a good shift against bigger and more physical opponents. Ismed Sofyan struggled against some geezer called Oar even when he doubled up with Eka Ramdani and was caught out on a few occasions.
With five spread across the middle it was always going to be a quiet night. Just how quiet Bambang was can be seen in a stat which showed that the home team had enjoyed 83% of the possession in the second half. Budi Sudarsono showed glimpses of what he could do but for the most part it was a backs to the wall job for the Indonesians and for the most part they did pretty well.
They were without the Papua contigent for this game. Ricardo Salempessy and Boaz Solossa were kept behind by their club I believe while Erol Iba and Elie Aiboy seem to have fallen from grace.
Next for Indonesia is a new coach. I guess there is no rush in appointing someone because they have no games lined up for a while yet. Such is life in Indonesia.
Nothing new then.
