Singapore paper gets behind SLeague shock!

Eeee, I couldn't believe my eyes, forsooth.

Usually a Singapore newspaper's idea of football coverage is tired old rehash from the English media with the odd headline about the local game if there is something nice and negative they can talk about or when it involves the Malaysia Cup days.

Only Today, which is a free paper I never seem to be able to find when I'm there, has regularly featured any coverage.

Now it looks like things may be changing with TNP deciding to do that most un-Singaporean thing and form its very own bandwagon.

I'm there at the weekend, now it looks like I can have something to read as I enjoy my roti for breakfast.

Comments:
Good on TNP. Hopefully it's even-handed, warts-and-all coverage, though, and not a bunch of rah-rah nonsense.

"The writer is a freelancer"? What's the full-time staff covering? Youth Olympics preparations?

they ll be analysing things like why arsenal lost to manchester united and whose knickers john terry will get into next - and the odds!

It is better that the full time reporters from TNP are not covering.

The last time they did it in 03 (when MBT 'task' it) their full-time reporters throughout the season 'complain' they DID NOT WANT TO DO IT.

I wished I can tell my boss I DO NOT WANT TO Any job.

Worse is it was just cut & paste as their previews & reports came form S-league website so the full-time reporters did nothing for the entire year.

Ask them abt SPools odds though & U get a diff face.

with an extra game being shown and tnp coverage at least there is some extra publicity

but will it be better than nothing?

i still think the sleague would be better off having just one live game and a weekly highlights show

I agree with

I also want weekly programme as honestly every few here catch the entire game even for BPL

But, at this moment in time I can accept this considering how terrible the coverage (Print & TV) was since 2000
