Marketing, promotion, marketing, promotion
Hello, good evening and welcome.
I believe once or twice I may have touched upon the fact that marketing and promotion are quite useful in any kind of business and it is also within the realms of possibility that when the Thais start to do this kind of thing they do it pretty bloody well. One reason why the TPL enjoyed such a successful year at the turnstiles in 2009.
Now Kanchanaburi have thrown their hat in the ring. One of my favourite places in Thailand hosted TOT for a while last season but after entertaining a footballing butterfly now have decided they want their very own team.
Step forward Muangkan which translates as Kanchanaburi Town or City.
Whatever it translates as it is oviously named to be reprsentative of the local community. Not like Malaysia where they have such daft bloody names as T Team, ATM etc. Or last year's very own My Team!
Having a team is one thing. Next thing you need is bums on seats and guess what? They don't just turn up. Potential supporters need to be informed about the club and this involves the clubs taking a proactive stand on reaching out to their potential fanbase, not just sitting on their arses and asking why nobody comes to their games.
I fail to see what is so hard to understand about this most basic of ideas.

Thanks for the kind comments about the Thai marketing and promotion of local football. However, you mustn't forget that it has taken us a long time to get to this point. It hasn't always been the way ;)
you and i both remember english football in the 70s. it took a while for the game there to get to its current state, be it good or bad, and i never had players from my local school coming to visit.
anyway the post was more aimed t singapore...where nothing gets done

Me neither but there were numerous times that I'd play truant to go autograph hunting down at Boundary Park ;)

Finally found a Thai club to support after the demise of Thai Farmers Bank. Kanchanaburi is my favorite spot in Thailand.
