Persipura accuse Aremani of racism
Following their 2-1 defeat against ISL leaders Arema, Persipura officials used the post match press conference to accuse the home team's supporters of making racist comments.
These have not been happy days for the Champions as they come off three straight defeats and ahead of crucial games against PSPS and Persija.
Racism has no place in society let alone football and if the allegations are true it is to be hoped that action is taken against the individuals concerned.
The wheels have well and truly coming off the Persipura success story with those three defeats (Sriwijaya, Persema and Arema) coming straight after an impressive 18 match unbeaten run.
They currently sit 14th in the 18 team ISL and boast just two wins all season.
There were also plenty of verbals after the champions lost to Persema with Kamri being quoted as saying that one Persipura player had warned him to be careful when they played in Jayapura.
Whatever the truth about these stories Persipura have some work ahead of them as they preapre for the AFC Champions League next March.
Squad wise they are of course missing Boas Solossa and Ricardo Salempessy but while they have Alberto Goncalves up front he has been ploughing a lone furrow for much of the season with much support coming from Erol Iba and Ian Louis Kabes down the flanks.
They have been drawn against Kashima, Jeonbuk and Changchun in the group stage and they will be hoping that their Mandala Stadium in Jayapura will be ready by then.
