Surprise early leaders in the ISL after Persiba thumped Sriwijaya who ended the game with 10 men after Arif Suryono was sent off in the second half. In the Papuan Derby it took a last minute equaliser from Ambrasar to earn a point for Persiwa and keep their unbeaten home record intact. That means in two complete seasons in the top flight plus yesterday they have won every game bar two, against Persipura, which were both drawn.
It was a case of old fiends reunion at Brawijaya Stadium as former Persik coach Aji Santoso took his newly promoted Persisam to East Java for their first game of the new season. Other former Persik players on show were M Roby, Hamka Hamza, Ronald Fagundez and Danilo Fernando. And still it ended blank.
Sharing top spot with Persiba are Persela with Leonardo Zada scoring his third goal of the season against Persitara.
As is so often the case in Indonesia it will be down to what teams do away from home that will decide the title and Persija came good after their first game disappointment against Arema. Talking Arema, Alamania fizzled somewhat yesterday as they drew a blank against new boys PSPS
