Help on its way for Asian refs
KUALA LUMPUR: AFC has produced a unique educational pack tailored towards referees’ instructors in order to enhance the learning and teaching experience for Asia’s top educators.
The pack comprises 34 CDs and DVD that provide vast amounts of information on teaching methods, fitness aspects, laws of the game and other valuable tools.
The laws of the game also come in six different languages – Arabic, Mandarin, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Russian.
“The laws of the game are produced by FIFA in their four official languages – English, French, German and Spanish – but we decided to expand it for Asian purposes,” said AFC Referees Manager George Cumming.
“This is quite a unique teaching pack and no other confederation has done anything similar.”AFC has produced about 500 packs, of which 400 have already been sent to AFC Member Associations and instructors.
COMMENT - definite wtf moment this one. Putting aside the 34 CDs why weren't any made in Bahasa Melayu (Indonesian/Malaysian) spoken by something like 200 million people in the region.
Back to the CDs. Do any of them talk about foul throws? How about not giving into intimidation from the home side's officials. Or thrusting cards into players' faces in an aggressive manner? Or giving the attacking team the benefit of the doubt with offside? Or clamping down on play acting when a player gets the slightest knock? Or standing round looking dumb while one team walks off?
