Funny team, Woodlands
Precious Emuejeraye played the whole 90 for the home team. Tampines Rovers striker Noh Alam Shah came on second half, replacing Khairul Amri. The home team won 1-0 thanks to Jamil Ali's 17th minute goal which was perhaps no real surprise.
His strike ended a drought going back six games - their last goal had come against Balestier Khalsa back in July. It was also their first win since then but this season has been one of marked inconsistencies from the side by the Causeway.
Their first win of the season came away to SAF. And the SLeague champions for the last three seasons hadn't lost at home since Noah was told it might rain soon. They have also beaten Gombak United, DPMM and a hard to beat Super Reds.
Like I said, funny team. Good keeper, Rezal Hasan , two strong central defenders in Precious and Daniel Hammond. Jamil Ali looks good for an hour or so but then runs out of puff. And then you struggle and you always wonder where the goals will come from.
Great passionate support by local standards.
As for Tampines. Their SLeague effectively ended in a mad 8 day period end of July, early August when they lost three straight games at a time when points on the board would have made them serious contenders for the title.
