Gang of four; Family of five
So there I was at the grandly titled Jurong derby. The Albirex Niigata supporter's club section was made up of women and children many wearing club colours. Just to their left was a smaller group of three or four people who made the 'noise.' One guy with a drum, one guy brandishsing yellow or red cards as the situation required.
Drummer would drum and the shirt clad family members would clap politely. As indeed they would when the PA blared out the club song.
But at the front were a foursome who looked like they were on a picnic and not savouring the delights of a tension filled local derby.
They arrived and set down a piece of matting. Heaven forbid they get their bums dirty. Then they started passing round the drinks. Drinks?! Hell, every game I get to in Singapore I get told I can't take drinks into the stadium but these guys, and all around them, had drinks.
But some of their drinks were beer...hmm lovely.
Half way through the first half, with Gombak already in the lead their pizza arrived. Bloody hell, a pizza delivery boy on the terraces! So they start eating pizza, pausing to wipe their mouths with bloody napkins, and drink their beer. Ask them the score of the game and they wouldn't have a scooby but picnic time was a blast.
At least those guys paid to get in. The following night at Jalan Besar Woodlands Wellington took on Super Reds and with it being live on TV admission was free.
Most of the seats were taken up by various freeloaders and banners leaving very few rows from which you could actually watch the game. And in front of me sat the future of football.
Mummy bear, daddy bear and three baby bears complete with packed lunch. Two baby bears sucked on the bottle as they fell asleep first half and I knew where they were coming from. I myself fancied nothing more than some liquid refreshment and a few zzzs to take my mind off the pitch.
Before falling asleep one baby bear looked around and was amazed to see foreign people. So excited was she by this singular occurance, after all not many Europeans or Africans pass through Singapore these days, she whispered the news in the whole family's ear and they all turned around to gawk.
So they sat their during the game. Battery operated fans allowed two baby bears to snooze comfortably while mummy bear and daddy bear amused themselves by playing with their handphones during the game. Only one baby bear was interested in the game and the whole family spent the princely sum of 0 Singapore Dollars in the two hours they were inside the stadium.

Oh yes,
The common sight of the stands in live games especially the boring ones like on last Friday.
Sure a good place to study at times like in that game between Geylang and Sengkang where a pin dropped to the floor could be heard.
No fanfare or crowd fever in one of Asia's top ten league for sure...
