Weekend preview

Right, what's occuring in the whacky world of South East Asian football this weekend? Actually the action has already begun with Albirex Niigata beating Geylang United in the SLeague with goals from Taisuke Akiyoshi and Kenji Adachihara.

Tomorrow night the action switches to Brunei when local heroes DPMM try to bolster their goal difference when they take on Young Lions, thumped 5-0 last time by Super Reds.

In Indonesia it's a homecoming for Christian Gonzales as he returns to Persik with Persib. The Bandung side have just one defeat in their last 20 something games while Persik have only ever lost one home game. Ever.

Sunday sees Persija 'host' champions elect Persipura in Jepara. Defeating cellar dweller PSIS 1-0 will count for nothing when they come fact to face with the Black Pearls holy trinity of Boas, Goncalves and Jeremiah.

In the TPL Chonburi's match away to TTM Samut Sakorn has been called off. Champions PEA Ayuthya travel to Pattaya to take on a United side who have struggled to make much of an impact since they took over Bang Phra. Leaders Bangkok Glass play Sunday, hosting Navy Rayong.

Last but not least Malaysia where the match of the day is probably Manchester United v Arsenal. But for fans of the local game leaders Perlis taking on Kelantan ticks all the boxes. Can Peter Butler's men find some form after hitting a rocky patch recently?

After a poor start to the season reigning champions Kedah now sit 3rd just four points behind Perlis. Tomorrow they take on Perak in a northern derby whil 2nd placed Selangor host Penang knowing that if results go their way they could be top tomorrow night.

In a bid to avoid an all day American Idol yawn fest as well as the Arse upsetting United's title ambitions I'm off to KL where I fancy some roti canai as well as some MSL action...
