Obadin saves Young Lions
Young Lions v Woodlands Wellington 1-1 (Obadin; Hammond) 1,632
This scoreline is dripping in irony. Young Lions are supposed to represent the future of Singapoe football. This team is being groomed with the SEA Games in mind and while the pressure to win games may be less intense than at places like SAF, there is still an understanding that young talent needs to be developed.
Obadin's 85th minute equaliser was his 5th of the season making him far and away the Lions leading scorer this season. That he is a foreigner and a defender tickles me no end but perhaps Raddy less so.
Aleksander Duric hasn't got long left while Noh Alam Shah and Indra Sahdan Daud may not yet be in the twilight of their careers but more has past than is to come. And then what? or who?
That Woodlands took the lead through a former Lion who happens to be both a foreigner and a defender adds to the irony.
