Copa Indonesia Draw
The draw was made yesterday for the 1st Round of this season's Copa Indonesia at a Jakarta hotel. As I mentioned a day or so back 52 teams are entered in this years' competition and the early rounds will be played home and away.
Last season's semi finalists, Sriwijaya, Persipura, Persija and Pelita Jaya receive a round through to what they call the Big 16 which in effect is the 3rd Round.
To minimise travel expenses the 48 teams who must start from scratch have been put into four groups of 12 based regionally. I have grouped the ties in pairs - the winners of the first tie will meet the winner of the second tie if you get my gist.

Given the regional aspect there is no surprise there are a few tasty derbies. Last year Persitara's game with Persita was marred by violence. This time they get to have a pop at the other side from Tangerang. Spread the violence I say! Persijap and Persiku are central Javan towns with a fe tourist attractions one of which ain't the football. And as for Persebaya against Gresik United?!
