Marcio Fires Persela Top
You don't expect Persik to get much on their travels, especially when they are shorn of their leading scorer Christian Gonzalez, and last night was n o exception as they got beat 2-0 by Persela at a poorly lit Surajaya Stadium in Lamongan.
Giving away free kicks on the edge of the area is never a good idea when you have Marcio Souza ready to have a pop but the Persik defence did it time and time again. From one such 'foul' Souza finally got his bearings and gave the home team the lead.
Persik coach Arcan Iurie would have been furious. Replays showed this time there was neglibble contact while when the Brazilian struck the ball his defensive wall made like a wall and didn't move.
Firasat scored a second in the second half and now we have the odd sight of Persela top of the table. They won't win the league 'cos their away record is poor but at home they have won five straight without conceding a goal.
Tonight sees Persitara hosting Pelita Jaya at Lebak Bulus. The North Jakarta side have had a woeful start to the season while Fandi's men have lost two of their last three games and while they are strong defensively they are offering little up front for Cristian Lopes to get n the end of.
PSM host PSMS and Persipura travel to Bontang to take on PKT who managed a suprise 2-1 victory away to Arema last time out.
