Singapore Armed Forces v Woodlands Wellington 3-1

From the craziness that is Liga Indonesia I headed to the twee slippers by the fire world of the SLeague and my first look at high scoring SAFFC as they hosted near neighbours Woodlands. Alexander Duric, the Bosnian plying his trade at SAF had recently hit 200 Sleague goals while before the game it was their keeper who was awarded the Player of the Month for July.

Halfway through the first half the WW keeper parried a low driver and as the ball rebounded out Duric was first on the scene. The crowd were on their feet before he'd even connected.

WW were fast and dangerous on the attack and a couple of minutes after falling behind were refused what looked a good penalty. A couple of questionable offsides had their coach leaping up and down like some kind of teutonic jack in the box as WW tried to get back into the game. An SAF defender scythed over the bar, then their # 2 was red carded and WW would have been confidant about finding their way back into this game.

It was quite exciting stuff and as the announcer kept repeating victory would see SAF go top but it was WW's support who were making the noise.

Second half and WW continued as they left off but they couldn't get an all important goal. It was SAF who forced their way back into the game as Duric became more prominent. On 71 minutes a well worked move down the left side saw Murakami make it 2-0. Duric scored with a soft header agfter good work from Noor Ali and game over. Zulkiffli's score for WW was of interest to statisticians as SAF moved top of the SLeague.

Pictures here...

Shit crowd of less than 3,000, I guess everyone was at home watching the latest Chelsea v Manchester United yawnfest.
