More on the Liberia friendly

The plot thickens.

The Guardian is indirectly quoting some gent called Herman Ago, Commercial Director at the Indonesian FA, as saying Indonesia cancelled the international friendly against Liberia after receiving a letter from the Liberian FA saying they had not sanctioned the match. Instead Indonesia played a select XI made up mostly of Liberians playing here plus, no doubt, a few who wish they were. No Liberian flag was shown at the game and no national anthem was played.

The Liberian FA have complained to FIFA and the AFC about the Indonesians while Ago says it may all be a misunderstanding between the agent who arranged the fixture and the Liberian authorities. In turn the Liberians are saying the Indonesians are victims of a 419 scam.

It's a right old kerfuffle.
