Indonesia look to SEA Games

The Indonesia FA (PSSI) have decided to send their soon-to-be-formed Under-19 squad to Uruguay in preparation for the SEA Games 2009 which Laos will be hosting at the end of the year.
At a recent meeting, the PSSI announced that after the selection process with potential players from the Under-19 squad, the team will then be send for attachments with various Uruguayan clubs.
“Up to this point, the PSSI have already selected 19 players from the U19 squad although only five players have met the requirement of being at least 180cm tall,” said Mafirion, an Exco member of PSSI.
The selected players who are sent to Uruguay will play in their age-group league competition until August before returning to Jakarta in preparation for the AFC Under-19 qualifiers prior to the SEA Games.
From there, the best players will then be brought into the squad which will feature the best Under-23 players from the Djarum Super League or the Esia Main Division League.
“So the squad for the SEA Games will comprise of the best players from the U19 and also those from the U23,” added Mafirion.
