Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto (Persitara)

With 25 teenagers heading to Uruguay for a 4 year development programme in January it might be interesting to look back at one of the successes from the last time Indonesia sent her youth overseas.

Back in 1993 Kurniawan DY was among those selected to go to Sampdoria for a couple of years and his career started promisingly.

In 1994 DY moved to Lucerne in Switzerland and spent a couple of years in the idyllic lakeside town but there were rumours of a hectic nightlife and in 1996 he returned to Indonesia with Pelita Jaya.

He spent three years there before moving to PSM in 1999. In 2002 he packed his bags again and moved from Sulawesi to Sumatra, lining up with PSPS Pekanbaru.

Since then he has had more clubs than a crap player in Batam. Persabaya, Persija, Sarawak (Malaysia), PSS and now Persitara.

With Kurniawan you can't help but think he should have made more of his talent. 10 goals in 27 games for Persitara shows he still has an eye for goal and let's face it; Indonesia is poorly supplied in the goal scoring stakes.
