Pasoepati Merchandise

I've got a lot of time for the fans of Persis Solo. They haven't had much to cheer about for many, many years yet they still turn out in their thousands to cheer their heroes. Last season was truly dire for them yet around 500 followed them to their last game of the season, away to Persikota, and were rewarded with a rare goal.

Their coach at the time, Isman Jasulmei, described the fans, known as Pasoepati, as the best in the country and indeed during that awful season they still pulled in around 15,000 fans for each wretched home game.

The support is still there and on my last visit to the Manahan Stadium, Persija v Persik in the Indonesia Cup, some 4,000 Persis fans came along for the fun.

Little wonder then that they have an on line presence that puts many so called bigger teams to shame. Check out their website, their on line store and if you're in Solo, nice place, check out the fan shop.

Another personal link to the city for me. The Sriwidari Stadium was the first Indonesian football stadium I ever visited, back in 1991. Little did I know back then that blah blah blah
