Building the Brand - Persib's Future?
I spent the weekend driving round West Java, heartland of Persib Bandung, and despite being some 150 kilometres from their spiritual home, I was struck by the number of kids where blue. Be it regional centres like Cicurag or tiny hamlets spread over rolling hills, there were Persib t shirts, replica shirts and even a Zona Viking in one place proudly done up in Persib blue.
Persib are one of the clubs leading the way towards a future free from local government subsidy and their home stadium is filled with advertising hoardings pointing the way to the future.
Perhaps they should also be looking at retail outlets in regional centres like Sukabumi, Kuningan and Cirebon? The support without a doubt is there and it makes sense for the club to try and cash in on that interest.
