An anorak's wet dream

I once went to a pokey old shop back in the UK and found dozens of old Arsenal programmes. To say I was made up doesn't come close to describing how I felt. I spent much of the following few weeks gingerly handling the precious proggies and devouring every word.

Sad to say the programmes have long gone. And my lust for football trivia still remains. I swear if I had a complete set of bound Arsenal homes I would be the happiest chappy in all of my postcode.

I felt similar emotions on my trip to the Singapore FA last week. A box outside the office was packed full of useless little momentoes that have held me enthralled these past few days. Programmes, brochures, handbooks. It was a veritable goldmine of footballing trivia that nary a soul knew existed.

Take for example a Young Lions hand book from 2006. An SLeague yearbook 2005 and 2007. An Asian Cup 2004 qualifying round brochure. A Lion City Cup brochure 2006.

Singapore FA golf challenge brochures 06 and 07. FA Cup Final programme 2006. AFC Under 17s championship 2006.

Doubtless there was more. None of it cataloged. Hopefully none of it has been ditched. I'm not sure anybody there appreciated my comment. 'Flog it on e bay'.

If ever I get round to buying a new scanner I will get them on line. Who knows, there may even be other saddoes out there who are interested in these tokens of Singapore's football history.

Comments:
