Putting one's foot in one's mouth
Having a pop at them what's paid to opine about football has always been easy. Opinions is like arseholes, we all have them and we all think our shit smells sweetest.
But recently I have come out with some right old nonsense, even more so than usual.
Take Persema's defeat away to Persib. Gushing that the players had put in more effort that Persija had in their meek surrender to Persipura I said that coach Subangkit would have been pleased with what he had seen.
This of course is crap. It was a third straight defeat, they had conceded 10 goals in those games, scoring none. Of course he werent going to be happy.
Then there was last week in Singapore at a game there. There was some god awful noise coming from one of the stands, I thought people were dancing on cats, and me being me I commented on the bloody racket.
A friend turned to me and said 'maybe, but at least our games kick off on time' referring to recent last minute cancellations in the ISL.
Suitably chastened I tried to shut the rubber duck up...
