Fandi's Precarious Position
Just as I was leaving the house this morning a headline in the local rag caught my eye. It said that Pelita Jaya coach Fandi Ahmad is 'reported to have been sacked.'
It has been a disappointing season for the team known as Young Guns as they had to settle into their 3rd home in three seasons. Goals have proved hard to come by with just 18 all season. With 11 games remaining they are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table nine points off a play off spot and only three wins.
Inspirational captain Firman Utina left during the mid season transfer window to join Persija while they did recruit Redouane Barkaoui their form hasn't shown any signs of improvement with one draw and four defeats in their last five.
UPDATE - As reported in the comments of this post Fandi has been given the rest of the season off for family reasons. It's nice to see that there is a heart in football...

nop. he's not fired. pelita jaya gave him a leave until end of season in order to focus in his wife recovery.
