The Build up
Like some star struck teenager I spent the morning at the hotel being shared by both Thailand and Singapore ahead of this evening's crucial Asian Cup qualifier at the National Stadium.
I had hoped to get the thoughts of some of the players on camera but when I actually met them I thought what's the bloody point? What is there to say beyond how do you feel about tonight's game? What do you think about playing against Singapore/Thailand?
There is something about young Thai international Peter Lang that will be added to Jakarta Casual TV but that's it.
Brief chats with some of the guys playing in Indonesia but didn't fancy putting anything on camera. Seemed wrong with them focusing on tonight's game.
Did get roped into appearing on a radio talk show. Steve Darby, Adie Iskander and Rafi Ali were on a show on 938 Live and I managed to disgrace myself by speaking shite. Stillm I blame the little kid who was there. It was all his fault. He was supposed to do a couple of minutes and so I was I but he decided he didn't want to.
The hotel staff were busy preparing the tables for lunch so my brief cameo got extended to about 30 minutes.
Some reasonable coverage in the local media on tonight's game.
Reports suggest only 8,000 tickets had been sold by last night which is bloody typical. If Singapore needed a win to qualify then they would have been queuing round the block but for a run of the mill group game people don't know what to do. So they slip into default mode and stay home waiting for a replay of Blackburn against Portsmouth.
