Singapore football media discover Singapore football Shock, Horror!

Gobsmacked this morning to glance at the local rags and actually see some coverage of Singapore football. Especially as there are no SLeague games tonight.

One rag has a trip down memory lane as it looks at what has happened to the team of 1977. Usually I like this things but then that's in the context of the here and now. Not this of course. It is just another sly dig at the game today by harking on about the supposed glory days in the Malaysia Cup.

The other soon to be fish n chip wrapper has a piece about Noh Alam Shah. Wow, Singaporean footballer gets some recognition finally by the local bods. But ...

..he of course now plays in Indonesia!

While he was here he was happily ignored except when he was red carded. But it has taken Indonesia for him to recieve recognition beyond his on field histrionics. I mean, this particular paper has actually sent someone to Malang to report on the Singapore connection today. While they never sent anyone to cover Tampines v Geylang.

Oh, wait a minute. Just remembered there are no English Premier League games today. Would they have been so keen to send their journos round the region had Chelsea been playing Manchester United today?

NOTE - it's worth pointing out that otherwise the main headline this weekend is a new cable operator has brought the rights to English football next season. And that story, mes amis, is front page news!
