Persija finally begin training
Persija finally began training yesterday, with former Persiba striker Musafry getting involved but confusion continues to swirl around the Jakarta club. They have installed Benny Dollo as technical director while he sees out his contract with the FA as national team coach and had hoped to install one of his assistants, Sudirman, as head coach.
Now the LSI are saying that Sudirman, nicknamed the General after some Indonesian hero, cannot be head coach because he doesn't have the requisite A coaching license.
This now, if true, puts Persija in a tricky situation. The General was only ever going to be a bench warmer until Dollo could take over fully when his contract expires at the end of January 2010, assuming of course he fails to lead Indonesia to the Asian Cup, an assumption everyone, the FA, Persija and Dollo himself, seems happy enough to make.
Will any fully qualified coach be willing to step into the hot seat for such a short period of time knowing full well everything will be in the hands of Benny Dollo?
UPDATE - two names apparently in the frame. Former Arema and PSIS coach Mambang Nurdiansyah and former Deltras coach Zein Alhadad
