Lack of interest forces Tottenham to cancel
Love it!
Forget the nonsense in this story - just spin.
SINGAPORE: English Premier League (EPL) club Tottenham Hotspur will not be coming to Singapore for a friendly match after all. The game against a Singapore Selection was initially scheduled for May 30 at the National Stadium. But the tour to the region which included a stopover in Hanoi was cancelled, as players who have just finished the EPL season are slated to return home to compete in international matches in June. The arrival of Spurs in Singapore would have been the first EPL club visit since that of Liverpool and Manchester United in 2001.
They cancelled because nobody wanted them! Indonesia turned them down flat, Vietnam couldn't find sponsors interested and were they really coming all this way just for one friendly against Singapore?
This rubbish about players having to compete in internationals in June is just that. Rubbish. They knew that all along but still went ahead calling all and sundry, asking to be taken in...fact is nobody wanted them.
