Indra Fires Home
Home United coach Sivaji cleverly put all the pressure on title chasing rivals Super Reds by insisting it was their title to lose. In a chat on the day before the game with me he emphasised how relaxed his team were by pointing to the time off he was allowing them bith before and after the crucial game with Geylang United.
Two goals from stand in skipper Indra Sahdan set the Protectors on the road to three points against a spirited Geylang who, perhaps sensing Home were vulnerable after two straight defeats, stuck three up top for much of the game.
Home got bogged down trying to breakdown a well disciplined defence but on 27' Ludovick Kengne chipped the ball forward and Indra beat the offside and lobbed a static Amos Boon.
Moments into the second half and Indra made it two when, forced wide, he managed to hit the back of the net via a deflection off a defender. Ludovick made it three on 67' and Home looked to be coasting.
A late goal from Fazrul Nawaz for Geylang made the end interesting but it was Home that took the points and moved to within three points of Super Reds with five games remaining.
