Persija Triumph in Jakarta Derby
Persija beat Persitara 3-1 thanks to early goals from new signing Greg Nwokolo and Aliyudin. Herman Abanda finished the scoring second half in a game played out in an empty stadium four hours south of the capital city.
Given the venal hatred between supporters of Persija and Persib security officials refused to allow supporters from Jakarta to travel to the game.
It was feared trouble would erupt between rival fans in and around the nearby city of Bandung, home of Persib.
Last season serious disturbances broke out after a game between Pelita Jaya and Persija when Persib fans turned up to have a pop at the visiting Jakarta fans and officials didn't fancy a repeat.
