Not long now

The most exciting football league in ASEAN resumes this Saturday after a 3 month break with some cracking fixtures. Saturday sees Persija take to the road as they visit Purwakarta and I will be with them every step of the way. Keep checking this blog for exclusive images and stories as I join some 1200 Jakmania for this crucial away game against Fandi Ahmad's Pelita Jaya. (If I get out of bed in time)

Sunday is even better as PSM Makassar host Arema Malang in a mouth watering clash in South Sulawesi. For armchair fans this game is the second of a double header with PSMS Medan hosting Champions Kediri in the afternoon.

I don't like my armchair so I'm off to Singapore to catch freescoring leaders SAFF on the Sunday with a second game on the Monday.

As the Indonesian season gets under way it would be nice to see the PSSI build on the relative success of the national team but if that's beyond them then perhaps, guided by the AFC, officialdom can look at the cancer that sees players rolling round like drama queens just to break the play up and disadvantage their opponents. Every week players come out behind a Fair Play banner. It is time those words came to mean something and not just become an empty slogan echoed by all and sundry.
