It's all about money
A recent FA gobfest in Makassar had people saying the FA or the government must do something but they never say why. They never state just why the tax payer must subsidise the game. There are apporximately 29,000 members in the Jakmania yet some 12 million people live in Jakarta. Why should they pay for a game they have no interest in?
There are a couple of seminars over the next few days but instead of looking to the outside they should start looking at themselves for the cash.
- Run the clubs properly.
- Source alternative revenue streams.
- Sell merchandising properly.
- Get serious on ticket sales.
- Get more sponsors involved.
Politics aside why are there 36 clubs in the Indonesian League? Next year they're looking at a single division of 18 clubs but we'll still end up with Medan travelling to Jayapura once a season, maybe twice if Wamena make the cut. I guess there ain't a lot that can be done about that, it's kinda late to redraw Indonesia's borders just for the football.
Why is there a limit of 5 foreigners per club? Some are quality, some are average and some...well, I've got a pair of boots somewhere! These guys don't come cheap; isn't it daft Manokwari spend bucket loads on air fares and overseas players and they don't have to worry about breaking even?
